Cycling Without Age Scotland secured £28,800 over two years from the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund to expand its cycling service across Aberdeen and Banchory. The funding has enabled the organisation to reach more people, including supporting the launch of its new Banchory Chapter, while promoting low-carbon, accessible transport and strengthening community wellbeing.

The funding has supported both the Aberdeen and Banchory Chapters through the purchase of electric Trishaws and wheelchair bikes - helping more people access and enjoy their local parks, beaches and green spaces. With the support of trained volunteers, passengers can spend time outdoors, revisit familiar places and connect with others - helping reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing.

By extending its reach across these areas, Cycling Without Age Scotland is enabling more people to benefit from inclusive, sustainable transport while encouraging active community involvement through volunteering. The additional funding is helping ensure the service can continue to grow and meet increasing demand.

The project demonstrates how the Fund is supporting community organisations to deliver practical, low-carbon initiatives that improve quality of life. By combining sustainable transport with social connection, Cycling Without Age Scotland is creating lasting benefits for individuals and communities across the North East of Scotland.
