Participatory Budgeting Fund

Thank you to the thousands of people who voted and had their say in Scotland’s just transition to net zero!

The Just Transition PB Fund aims to empower the residents of Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen and Moray by giving you a crucial role in shaping our just transition to a net zero future in the North East of Scotland.

£1.5million has been made available (£500,000 for each region) to support local grassroots green projects from third sector organisations and community groups in the North East and Moray.

The Fund is an opportunity for communities to put forward projects that match local needs and priorities and will enable us to create a greener region with residents invited to have the final say over which initiatives are funded through a public vote.

We are pleased to announce the results after verifying every vote and confirming all successful projects. We thank all Grampian residents who voted and had their say over which local, green and impactful projects receive funding. Visit jtpbfund.scot/results to discover all successful projects!

ACVO TSI, Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action, TSI Moray, NESCAN Hub, Money for Moray and Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) are working in partnership to deliver the fund and have been actively engaging with everyone in the region to contribute ideas and be an active part in determining the discussion over community priorities in relation to our just transition to net zero.

About the fund

Fund Timeline

  • Applications open 26/06/23

    Applications are open for the Just Transition PB Fund as of June 26th

  • Applications close 1200hrs 04/09/23

    The final deadline for applications is 12 noon on Monday September 4th 2023 for Aberdeenshire and Moray and 12 noon Monday September 11th 2023 for Aberdeen City

  • Application assessment - September

    Throughout September our panel of assessors will review submissions and decide on which projects are eligible to be included in the public voting process

  • Public vote opens - 29/09/23

    Following the application assessment, eligible projects will be entered into the public voting process. During Year 1 over 12,000 votes were cast and we anticipate engagement in year 2 will be even higher!

  • Public Vote Closes - 13/10/23

    Public vote closes - 1700hrs 13/10/23

    After a fortnight of public engagement and residents of the region having their say, voting will close and the count will begin!

  • Results announced week commencing 30/10/23

    Following the count, the eco friendly projects with the most votes will be announced and a formal funding offer will be granted to successful projects.

  • Funds distributed - November

    Successful projects will have their funds awarded in November, to start off their fantastic projects. All funds to be spent by 31st March
