Stay tuned for the public vote, which will open on Friday, September 29th, giving everyone a chance to have their say in selecting the environmentally-friendly green projects that will receive funding.

Year 2 of the Just Transition PB Fund marks another exciting chapter in our journey to support green initiatives in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and Moray. In 2022, the Scottish Government introduced the ten-year £500 million Just Transition Capital Fund to facilitate the Northeast's transition to a net-zero economy. Last year, £1 million was distributed to various groups in the region, and the public had the opportunity to vote for their preferred green community projects.

In 2023, we were thrilled to announce an allocation of £1.5 million for our Northeast communities, aimed at promoting sustainability and addressing climate change. Applications for this funding opened on June 26th, and now, as we conclude the application phase, we eagerly await the public's input to determine which projects will have the most significant impact on achieving a carbon-neutral Aberdeenshire.

The administration of this fund continues to be entrusted to the three Third Sector Interfaces for the Northeast: ACVO, Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action, and TSiMoray, in partnership with Northeast Scotland’s Climate Action Network (NESCAN Hub) and Money for Moray. Each geographic region has £500,000 available to support third sector groups.

Grassroots community organizations had the opportunity to apply for up to £50,000 in capital funding for green projects that contribute to combating climate change and enhancing sustainability on our path to net-zero emissions. With your engagement and support, we look forward to shaping a greener future for our communities.
