JTPB Fund Year 4 Vote Results Announced Across North East and Moray!

The results are in! Residents across the region can now discover how their votes helped fund green projects in their local communities.

Following this year’s online public vote, residents in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray can now find out which local eco-friendly projects will receive a share of £1 million in funding from the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Participatory Budgeting (PB) Fund.

Details of the 37 projects supported through Year 4 of the fund have now been released, highlighting a diverse range of initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, cost reduction and community benefit.

From renewable energy installations and low carbon transport to energy efficient community buildings and environmental protection projects, the successful initiatives demonstrate the practical ways communities are helping to deliver Scotland’s transition to a greener, net zero future.

During November and December 2025, thousands of people across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray took part in the public vote, helping to determine which projects received funding and ensuring that investment decisions reflected local priorities.

Maggie Hepburn, Chief Executive at ACVO TSI, said: “Once again, communities across the North East and Moray came together to support projects in their local areas. Every vote played a vital role in shaping how this funding was invested, and I’d like to thank everyone who took part. The range and quality of projects supported in Year 4 is hugely encouraging, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have.”

As in previous years, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray each received £333,333 to distribute among successful projects, supporting both well established and grassroots third sector and community organisations.

One of the organisations funded in Aberdeen is Instant Neighbour, which received £12,677 to install battery storage alongside existing solar panels. This will reduce reliance on the grid, cut running costs and allow more resources to be directed towards frontline poverty relief services.

Also in Aberdeen, NERVS Blood Bikes secured £38,785 in funding to purchase an electric vehicle to support the delivery of vital medical transport services. The vehicle will reduce running costs and emissions, enabling more resources to be focused on frontline community support.

In Aberdeenshire, Midmar Men’s Shed was awarded £14,111 to install an air source heat pump in its new community building, creating a warm, welcoming and energy efficient space for local activities. Alford Valley Community Railway Ltd received £49,999 to complete a sleeper replacement programme, ensuring the long term sustainability of this much loved local attraction.

Projects supported in Moray include Lossiemouth FC, which received £50,000 to upgrade to LED floodlighting, install solar panels and switch to an electric mower, significantly reducing emissions and operating costs. The Scottish Dolphin Centre was also awarded £26,904 to purchase an electric van and beach cleaning equipment, enabling expanded education, conservation and marine monitoring work across the region.

Alison Stuart, CEO of NESCAN Hub said: "This year saw another successful JTPB Fund, highlighting the enthusiasm and passion of our communities in bringing forward a wide range of community-led green projects. Thank you to everyone who voted, as well as our partners and team, for their continued support.”

Since launching in 2022, the Just Transition PB Fund has now allocated over £4.5 million to more than 180 community led eco-friendly projects across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray. The fund is delivered locally on behalf of the Scottish Government by ACVO TSI, Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action, tsiMORAY, Money for Moray and NESCAN Hub.
