Ellon Castle Gardens is tranquil community space where visitors come to connect with nature. Sitting and picnicking amongst the flora and fauna is a great way for the community to enjoy the mental health benefits of socialising outdoors. Our wooden benches require regular maintenance which involves transporting them by lorry to Aberdeen to be dipped in a chemical bath. The timber eventually degrades and needs replacing. Our preferred, more sustainable, alternative is recycled plastic furniture which is low-maintenance and extremely durable. It does not require painting or replacement, reducing the carbon emissions associated with new materials, transport, and maintenance.
