North East Sensory Services

Community Electric Vehicle

After a successful public vote, North East Sensory Services received £33,565 to purchase an electric people carrier which replaced the organisation’s former community vehicle which had been in use for the past 7 years.

The electric people carrier is used to transport service users to the groups and activities provided by NESS, particularly the children and young people of their Young People’s Sensory Service (YPSS). YPSS enables the young people supported by NESS to build their confidence, independence, social skills and ambition through a tailored programme of activities.

The vehicle is also used to support the delivery of other activities provided by the organisation which focus on bringing people together to meet and connect in order to alleviate the negative effects of social isolation.

Through the purchase of the vehicle, NESS has reduced its running costs, carbon footprint and environmental impact all while making a huge difference to lives of people who use the service.
